Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana
The scheme of RGGVY, as approved by the Central Government for implementation during Twelfth and Thirteenth Plans, has now been subsumed in the new scheme of the Central Government, called Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana (DDUGVY). This scheme has the following objectives:-
- Separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders, facilitating judicious restoring of supply to agricultural and non-agricultural consumers in the rural areas.
- Strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission and distribution infrastructure in rural areas, including metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers.
- Rural electrification for completion of the targets laid down under RGGVY by carrying forward the approved outlay of RGGVY to DDUGJY.
Bihar, with 88.7 percent of its population living in rural areas (2011 census), remains the most ruralised state in India, the national average being around 68.9 percent. Thus, improving connectivity of rural areas to the grid power is of great importance. In view of this, the rural electrification work has been completed in all 38 districts of the state under DDUGJY.
